Beside a
revamped logo, Bing has also added to its search capabilities. One function
autofills a search terms and offers a glimpse of information about it, and
results displayed in two columns have search information and data from social
networks blended along the right side.
Microsoft’s
Bing may be trying to find itself. The search engine’s website got a makeover
with a more streamlined look and a more angular, yellow logo. The new logo aims
to be “simple, real and direct” and more closely mirror the logos of other
Microsoft products, Scott Erickson, a senior director on the Bing brand team.
The
company also added to its search capabilities, including a function that
autofills your search term and offers a glimpse of information about it before
your full search page pulls up. Search results will be displayed in two
columns, rather than three, with search information and data from social
networks blended along the right side.
The
revamp comes just two weeks after rival Yahoo unveiled its first new logo in 18
years, although its less cartoonish look left many tech watchers unimpressed.
